Ruined Chances? Was skipping a year too cocky?
Basically, I skipped junior year, so I'm graduating with only two years of grades/extracurriculars being submitted to colleges. I had the option to wait out all four years and graduate in 2026 like the rest of my class (I am in no way better, I just prepared earlier and took more classes), but I chose to go ahead and apply this year because there would be no high school classes available to me next year.
For some context, I go to a small private HS with no opportunities, so I finished by credits at CC. I think that my extracurriculars compare to everyone who had three-years to prepare. I was super confident. But now, after a rejection and two deferrals, I'm wondering if AOs just think that I'll be immature after all the hard work I put in. Again, I don't mean to be cocky, but I did do A TONNNN before applications, and I think my profile is strong.
I only applied to T20s and schools with sub 15% acceptance rates...my only "safeties" are UC Davis and University of Washington Seattle...and even they are both very competitive...
Should I have waited, and should I start planning a gap year with research?
I guess my question is...was this grade hopping a bad idea? Do I need plan B?
